Most ferries operating the route belong to the high-speed/catamaran type. These are small and sail at high velocities, taking passengers to their destination fast. However, none of them has a garage.
Conventional ferries are large vessels that can carry not only several passengers but also vehicles. The journey with such a ferry is more time-consuming, but tickets are more affordable.

Ferries to Poros usually depart from Gate E8 at Piraeus Port. The gate of departure will be written on your ticket. Piraeus is a large port and long distances separate one gate from another. Make sure to be informed about the location of your gate of departure before reaching the port.

Luggage

Greek ferry companies have flexible luggage policies.
Each passenger can carry up to 40 kg or 0.5 cubic meters of luggage free of charge. Furthermore, each ferry has a designated luggage area, where travelers can leave their bulky objects.
We recommend travelers to leave heavy baggage in the designated area but keep items, like their phones, wallets and keys, on them.

Traveling with a car

Conventional ferries can carry vehicles, so taking your car or motorbike to Poros is possible. In order to do that, you have to book a separate ticket for your vehicle.
Drivers need to be at the gate of departure at least one hour in advance. During high season when congestion occurs at the port, the company may ask them to be at the port 1.5 or 2 hours in advance.
Keep in mind that entering the garage is prohibited throughout the crossing.
Note: Many car rental companies do not allow customers to ferry their vehicles. We recommend avoiding purchasing a vehicle ticket before contacting your car rental company.
