HOW TO TRAVEL THERE

Ermioni is a small seaside town that does not have an airport. The nearest one is the International Airport of Athens, which lies 200 km away. To get there, you can travel either by road or by ferry. However, taking the ferry is more convenient, as traveling by bus from Athens involves changing buses. Moreover, ferries allow passengers to enjoy the magnificent seascape throughout the crossing.
Note: The ferry is the only way to travel between Ermioni and the Saronic islands of Spetses, Hydra and Poros.

Ferry Connections

Ermioni is well-connected to the port of Piraeus in Athens via daily ferry routes, available throughout the year. Similarly, Ermioni is connected by ferry to the seaside resort of Porto Heli, also located in the Peloponnese.

The most popular routes for anyone wishing to combine sightseeing with island beauties are from Ermioni to Spetses and from Ermioni to Hydra, which can both be reached in just 25 minutes. The tranquil island of Poros is also well-connected to Ermioni and the crossing takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.

At the same time, the verdant coastline around it is fringed with lovely beaches that give Ermioni an island flair. As the town remains serene even in high season, it is ideal for relaxing family vacations, while its geographical location makes it a great base for day trips to the rest of the Peloponnese and the Saronic Islands.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Ermioni is during the summer, between June and August, when the weather is at its best. However, if you would rather go during a quieter season, we recommend May or September, when the weather is still quite warm and sunny.

Best things to do

In brief, the best things to do are to swim in the crystalline waters of magnificent beaches, savor fresh fish and seafood in the local taverns, and go on fascinating day trips to Spetses and Hydra. Moreover, you can watch a performance in the renowned Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, spend a day in the historic town of Nafplio —the first capital of the Greek State— or drive to the archaeological site of Mycenae, the kingdom of the mythical Agamemnon.
Some of the most notable sights in Ermioni itself include the medieval Monastery of Agioi Anargyroi, a small yet interesting Folklore Museum, and a Toy Museum exhibiting traditional toys.

Directions

There are several ways to leave from/get to Ermioni Port.

Public buses (KTEL) are the most affordable option for those traveling on a budget. The central KTEL terminal is located in the settlement of Kranidi, which lies around 10 km from Ermioni, while the two are connected via a separate bus line. From the Kranidi bus terminal, travelers can reach Athens, Nafplion, Mycenae, Patra, Ancient Epidaurus and other locations of interest. The frequency of itineraries depends on the destination, while tickets can be purchased online or at ticket offices.

Taxis are an easy and flexible transportation option, but the great distances also mean that they are a much more expensive way of moving around. For greater convenience, you can arrange a pre-booked private transfer by calling the local taxi services.

Finally, a few car rental agencies can be found in the streets around Ermioni Port. Having your own car is the best way to move around the eastern Peloponnese and unlock beaches and sights without having to rely on fixed bus itineraries.
